Functions | Alpha-conotoxins act on postsynaptic membranes, they bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) and thus inhibit them. This synthetic peptide potently and reversibly blocks alpha-9/alpha-10 nAChR (IC(50)=6.9 nM). It reversibly blocks alpha-7 nAChR (IC(50)=1.8 nM). Is also active on alpha- 3/beta-2 (IC(50)=23 nM), alpha-3/beta-4 (IC(50)=480 nM) and alpha- 6/alpha3beta2beta3 nAChRs. Has little or no activity on alpha- 2/beta-4, alpha-2/beta-2, alpha-4/beta-2, alpha-4/beta-4 nAChRs. |
