Skin, as the largest organ of the body, is composed with multiple structures and cell types and divided into three layers: epidermis, dermis, and the subcutaneous tissue. The melanocyte determines the skin color through producing melanin in dermis layer. Melanin is a broad term for a group of natural pigments found in most of the organisms. It is formed by the oxidation of the amino acid tyrosine, followed by polymerization.

Skin tone and its evenness are very for human beings. A uniformity of skin colour is essential for an improved cosmetic appearance. Despite much efforts, uneven skin pigmentation has remained a challenge to cosmetic dermatology as current treatments. Cosmetic dermatology is beneficial for some people, however, it still remains ineffective to many others or even cause significant side effects. Thus, identification of biologically active molecules which can be incorporated into cosmetic products to achieve even skin pigmentation attracts general interest.

In this regard, researches have shown that some polypeptides may be delivered into human skin where they can play anti-pigmentation effects on skin cells. For example, a tetrapeptides PKEK(Pro-Lys-Glu-Lys), which is available from Creative Peptides, has been found the potential to cause significant skin whitening. In a study enrolling 39 Caucasian women, facial pigment spots significantly faded after 6 weeks when PKEK was combined with the skin whitener sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP).

Similar function peptides such as Oligopeptide-34 (CPC1676) and Nonapeptide-1 (CPC1650) are also available from Creative Peptides. With years of extensive experience on cosmetic peptides, Creative Peptides is able to provide comprehensive support for our client.
