Capreomycin is an FDA-approved antibiotic used to treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). It targets and inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis. Capreomycin is particularly effective against TB strains resistant to other first-line drugs. It is often used in combination with other anti-TB medications to enhance treatment outcomes.
